What GCash says about gambling transactions
No blanket ban on gambling merchants appears in GCash’s own terms and conditions; the closest general clause prohibits pyramid and Ponzi schemes. Regulators are behind the restrictions that do exist. Following BSP Memorandum M-2025-029 (14 August 2025), which gave every BSP-supervised institution 48 hours to strip in-app links and redirects to gambling and gaming sites, GCash withdrew the GLife Games top-up and withdrawal feature with effect from 16 August 2025.
GCash states a separate zero-tolerance policy toward illegal gambling operators, and reports it has blocked roughly 3,200 merchants that abused its QR system to redirect users to illegal gambling and scam sites. Every part of this works to hold back merchants tied to illegal gambling, as well as in-app gaming top-ups. It makes no statement either way on whether GCash may fund a licensed casino’s cashier.
